SOHO Labels Tour: Typography
Powerful typography features like Smart Fields give you unprecedented control over the text on your design!
The text on your design can be just as much a design element as the artwork itself. SOHO Labels has all the basic typography features found in modern word processors plus Smart Fields, text scaling options, auto-formatting, and more.

Smart Fields.
Use over 350 smart-fields to automatically place information from the Mac OS X Address Book directly on Labels & Envelopes. Smart-fields take care of details like name, address, and phone number formatting, so information doesn't have to be entered a certain way in advance.
Plus, there are smart-fields for almost everything including logos, initials, one-line addresses, and more.
At first glance placing an address on a design seems pretty straight forward, but addresses in reality are more complex. For example, addresses can have a varying number of street lines and different countries can place address components in drastically different orders. SOHO Labels lets you place individual address components exactly where you want or you can use dynamic smart address fields to handle all the formatting for you.
Since a given contact may have more than one address the software lets you smartly specify which address to use. There are smart address fields for primary, home, work, first, second, etc.

A common design practice is to place all of the fields that comprise an address on one line. This is often easier said than done because contacts may use different address fields and country formatting. A special one-line address manages all of the formatting details so you don't have to.
A clever design technique is to use an initial from the company name or the contact name as a design element on the design. This is easily accomplished using the Initial smart-fields which automatically extract the first letter from a field.
Auto-Formatting.
A fashionable design will sometimes require a phone number format different than the format used in the original contact record. Further, phone numbers are not always entered the same way in the first place. The phone number formatting feature lets you specify how phone numbers should be formatted on the final design for a consistent look.
Making the text on a design all upper case or all lower case is a design technique that can create a sophisticated look. Rather than retyping a contact record in the desired case, simply use a smart-field to make the text all upper or lower case regardless of how it was originally entered into the Address Book.

Text Effects.
8 powerful text fitting options can automatically shrink or expand text as necessary or modify letter spacing for full justification effects. These shrink-to-fit options ensure that your data always fits on your design.
The amount of space required for contact information is difficult to predictespecially if you're using a single design for multiple contacts. The shrink-to-fit option tells SOHO Labels to automatically shrink the size of the text to fit its enclosing box if necessary.
Sometimes you want contact information to fit on a design without shrinking the size of the font. Special text fitting options let you specify that a text box automatically expand in a specified direction (left, right, up, down) to accommodate all of the text.
Fully justified contact information on a design can look really sharp. The letter spacing text fitting option will automatically make multiple lines of contact information in a text box fully justified.
Perfect Balance guarantees that text is perfectly balanced in a text box on your design regardless of how much or little text the text box contains. This means you can create labels and envelopes for multiple contacts using the same design with assurance that the contact info will look good on each label/envelope.
